Spiritual Companionship
To know yourself as the Being underneath the thinker, the stillness underneath the mental noise, the love and joy underneath the pain, is freedom, salvation, enlightenment. – Eckhart Tolle
In Search of Wholeness (ages 18+)
Deep inside, everyone wants to find truth and wholeness, but we are afraid of what truth might reveal and what kind of transformation it will request from us to yield meaningful purpose. We are not up to task until we are triggered by a life experience that awakens us to a new reality. This trigger can be a life transition like: a new marriage, divorce, having a child, a child moving out, change of career, loss of life, loss of status, a deep frustration with the status quo, a phase of spiritual dryness, inner curiosity, feeling lost, hunger for meaning and vocation, etc. |
This awakening launches us on a path of self-discovery. The task of revealing the unknown and applying truth to one's life can be overwhelming, and become an emotional experience that requires a companion to serve as a compass as we travel the path of self-knowledge.
A spiritual companion is someone who listens to and honors your story as sacred, who watches your steps, who feels your pain with compassion, and provides a safe place for rest and discernment. She is a friend for the journey, someone that practices hospitality and unconditional witnessing – judgement free, advice free, agenda free. The companion also serves as a mirror, reflecting what is seen and heard, by asking questions that allow the seeker to go deeper.
A spiritual companion is also known as "Anam Cara" – the Gaelic word for soul friend. She is not an advisor, counselor or therapist, but a midwife of the soul; someone who waits with you for your transitions to unfold, and your transformation to take place.
Spiritual Companionship is the practice and search for an authentic life. We seek to be true and present in all relations – self, others, earth and Divine. This state of Oneness creates an environment for peace and gratitude in the midst of life's uncertainties and changes. It is a process of self-love and self-acceptance, a womb like experience – a safe place to grow and develop in your own pace.
Spiritual Companionship is the art of making connections.
